Poems

Days Before You

There was a time
Before your eyes met mine
When hours passed
Not unglad
But never full
with what I feel now.

There was a day
When your being's rays
Could not dispel
My mind's rain,
But now it seems
The miracle of coincidences
Has spread its luck over me.

Not too many moons ago
I was in the throes
Of a daily life,
which though satisfying,
Had a hole inside
where no love resided.

But a sense of fullness has returned,
Has cured the longing so long endured.
And all the watching and the waiting
For the eyes which would leave my world quaking,
For the kisses which would leave me pulsating,
For a body which would grant me love's full sensation,
For a touch which would relieve my soul's aching
is over.

A real dawn is breaking
on a world I've never seen
when you
look
at
me.
