Something Indefinable

There's something indefinable
in the air round me tonight.
I sense an utter absence
of something that's not right.

Your voice,
it ricochets off the walls.
My heart and mind, they yearn
to see your face
Materialize
Before me, unlike a dream.

Who is it who's created
the magical scheme of things?
Who allows for the miracles of eyes?
Perhaps I do not want to know,
for without these mysteries
Life would lose its savior
called Surprise.

So I sit alone, enchanted,
Waiting.
